What Stories to Tell

I have stories of living day to day in heaven on earth and sea. Of experiences profoundly unique on our planet. Of a wild bunch converging in the same place at the same time ushering each other through the changing cosmos.

Stories of being alive and breathing, witnessing, experiencing ancient rituals of ocean and land creatures, two and four legged, winged, finned.

In rapture over hours of being near a 300 pound green turtle digging her nest in the sand, fin by fin scooping and batting the sand into piles along the rim of the hole she was digging.

Or 60 days later when her babies hatch, digging their way out of the pit that Mama made. Hours completely giving to the experience of grains of sand shifting, a few at a time while a meter underground the teams miniature flippers pull them to the surface of a beach slowly disappearing as the ocean continues to rise.

As Fire Starter, the ecstasy of ecstatics in the human rituals of fire drumming, chanting, dancing.

Of bike rides on jungle roads swarmed with butterflies in pale greens, blues, and creamy whites. Literally riding among them. Or of snorkeling with schools of fish completely unconcerned with my presence, when I could pretend I’m just one of the kids.

Of living as a magical creature, alive in a magic place.

Crashing bliss to bits, I saw tourism ruin a place, hurting so many people.

I saw greed invite cartels to exploit the situation.

I saw a community turn against each other, lining up on the clear sides - Environmentalists vs Business and Landowners.

I saw paradise loved nearly to death.
